Literacy Volunteer Tutor, Elaine, with her students Leslee and Alonzo

“What a delight to work with two children who love to absorb every new learning opportunity!  Reading And Beyond provides the setting to encourage children to improve their reading skills.  The one-on-one setting enhances the child’s desire to want to learn.  This is a great opportunity for children to learn and love to read.”

Numbers to Think About

The percentage of third-grade students that scored below “proficient” in English Language Arts:*

Fresno Unified School District: 69%

County of Fresno: 60%

State of California: 57%

Numbers like these are what we’re working against every day.  The mission of Reading And Beyond is to make these grim statistics a thing of the past, to give our children the chance at a better future.  To do this, we need your help...
