Marj Johnson

In Memoriam of a Dear Friend

On April 1, Reading and Beyond lost a dear friend, Marj Johnson.  Marj was one of Reading And Beyond's first volunteers (then called Fresno Covenant Foundation).  When the organization was in its infancy, she volunteered in the office helping Luis with clerical duties, answering phones, maintaining files, proofreading grants and much, much more.

Before volunteering with Reading and Beyond, Marj worked at Fresno State, as secretary to the President for 33 years. Marj believed in the mission of Reading And Beyond from the beginning and never hesitated to share her expertise, opinions, and thoughts as the organization grew over the years. Marj's work with Reading And Beyond is valued and respected and her influence has helped shape our organization to this day

In 2005, Reading And Beyond's Board of Directors, recognized Marj with our Donald G. Larson Award for Community Excellence for her support over the years. Marj was a true friend to Reading and Beyond and will be missed by all.
