Our after school programs create engaging and interactive learning activities for children at a variety of school and community sites.
Community Sites
Our community sites bring our award-winning after school programming directly to children living in low-income neighborhoods. They serve as resource centers for nearby children and families. Our staff of well-trained literacy tutors are knowledgeable about current research on effective reading strategies. These tutors assist students in a small-group setting to complete their homework and improve their reading level. We assess our students every 3 months with the Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA) to guide the tutors on the individual needs of the students. We also evaluate our program on a regular basis and make changes to ensure the students' timely progress.
